Displaced proximal humeral fractures

Abstract

|
Clinical study was reported here of 23 cases of displaced proximal humeral fractures treated at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Kwangju Triservice hospital from Jan. 1969 to Oct. 1971. The j evaluation was done according to the classification of Neer, C. S. (1970). Among 23 cases of the displaced proximal humeral fractures, 2 being Group 1, 6 Group 2, 11 Group 3, 3 Group 4,0 Group 5 and 1 Group 6, 17 were treated by means of closed reduction under anesthesia and 6 underwent open reduction. Indication of open reduction was failure of initial attempt of closed reduction and severe displacement with angulation. Clinical end results were devided to Excellent 8(35%), Satisfactory 10 (43.4%), Unsatisfactory 4(17.4%) and Failure 1 (4.3%) respectively. The better treatment and prognosis depend on the further studying of prosthesis in our Deparment.
